James Cooke, MD
James Cooke’s global work focuses on designing technical solutions for medical education, skills and team training, accommodations for health professionals with disabilities and the promotion of health equity. His interests align with the Center’s themes of designing technical solutions for health equity. He is an active family physician practicing both inpatient and outpatient family medicine at Michigan Medicine and has worked in health professions education at all levels, including undergraduate, graduate and continuing medical education. Cooke collaborates with colleagues in anesthesiology, cardiology, computer science, emergency medicine, industrial and operations engineering, mechanical engineering, pulmonology, and surgery on a number of studies surrounding skills-based training and assessment for healthcare professionals, utilizing virtual reality and 3D printing for the development of novel simulators, utilizing simulation to improve safety for patients and providers and best practices for simulation in health professions education.
