HIV and STI prevention among sexual and gender minority populations

Akshay Sharma’s global work focuses on enhancing HIV and STI prevention among sexual and gender minority populations through telehealth and home self-testing initiatives. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Sharma’s research involves designing and evaluating behavioral and biomedical interventions for HIV and STI prevention, addressing barriers and facilitators to accessing healthcare, and identifying novel means of delivering sexual health promotion and behavior change strategies to populations at elevated risk.
