Preventing poverty-related diseases and epidemic threats to global public health

Abebe Megerso Adlo’s global health focus is on diseases related to poverty, which disproportionately affect populations in low-income countries and pose a threat to global public health due to their epidemic potential. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Adlo’s research interests include infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria, as well as noncommunicable diseases like cancer and metabolic disorders, with an emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa and Ethiopia.
