Apply for a graduate student intern
Participating in the Center's Graduate Student Summer Research Internship and Training Program is an excellent opportunity to advance your research initiatives at no cost to your department. By mentoring a U-M graduate student, you will gain dedicated support for 20 hours a week over a 10-week period to work on your global health equity project, with the student's stipend fully covered by the Center for Global Health Equity. This collaboration not only enhances your research capacity but also contributes to the professional development of emerging scholars in the field.

We offer funding to support collaborative projects that address critical challenges within our focus areas. Available grants include:
Seed Grants
- Support exploratory projects that foster new ideas and collaborations.
- Amount: Up to $35,000
- Duration: Up to 12 months
Impact Accelerator Grants
- Support action-oriented projects designing or testing solutions for global challenges.
- Amount: $35,000–$100,000
- Duration: 12–24 months
Postdoc (Impact Scholar) Opportunities
Postdoc (Impact Scholar) Opportunities
If you are a doctoral student passionate about global health equity and looking for your next postdoc opportunity, consider applying to become an Impact Scholar. Viable candidates must have completed a terminal degree (PhD, MD, etc.) and will be appointed for one year, with an option to renew for a second.
This program allows you to build a coherent body of your own work, working with University of Michigan faculty mentors on projects that involve collaboration across prioritized themes.

Explore the field of global health equity and prepare for an impactful career through the Graduate Student Research Internships program, offering practical research experience, community-building, and professional development. Become part of the Center for Global Health Equity's multidisciplinary community of experts addressing critical global health challenges through this paid summer internship and training program.
With mentored research and professional training, participating students will explore diverse perspectives and build a foundation for future work in this rapidly expanding field.
Summer Research Development Grants
The Center provides funding to exceptionally motivated graduate students who are prepared to develop and implement a novel global health equity research project in a low- and/or middle-income country. Development grants cover international travel expenses for student-driven research projects that have potential for longer-term impact on health and wellbeing in low- and middle-income settings.
Our grant program offers graduate students support in shaping research projects in alignment with our values of building equitable global partnerships, co-designing research proposals with local collaborators, and creating a line of sight to impact.
