Sarah Burgard, PhD, MS, MA

Health disparities and health across the life course
Sarah Burgard’s global work focuses on the social factors that underlie health disparities such as socioeconomic status, gender, and race/ethnicity. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of empowering women and communities and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Burgard’s research focuses on the social stratification of health across the life course with population-based survey data. She examines links between employment and health, focusing on mental health, chronic disease, and overall health status and health behaviors.
