Basit Zafar, PhD

Applied microeconomics, economics of education, healthcare delivery and utilization and household finance
Basit Zafar’s global work focuses on education and training, healthcare delivery and utilization, labor economics, and how individuals make decisions under uncertainty in Pakistan and Mozambique. Basit’s interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Zafar's global research employs a disparate set of empirical methods and techniques, including the use of subjective expectations data and experimental data. His recent work includes a study on COVID-19 vaccine acceptance and hesitancy in low and middle-income countries, and the socioeconomic impacts of COVID-19 on education.
