Lifecourse social determinants of late-life health and health disparities
Carlos Mendes de Leon’s global work focuses on conducting epidemiologic studies of older adult populations to study the prevalence of dementia and identify the major determinants of dementia and other aging-related changes in health, specifically in the Middle-East, South Asia and Africa. His interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health and strengthening data science systems for health research and policy across the globe. Mendes de Leon’s other work focuses on the social determinants of late-life health and health disparities across diverse populations in the US.
