Edgar Franco Vivanco, PhD

He/him/his
Extractive industries, rural communities, indigenous politics

Dr. Edgar Franco Vivanco's global work focuses on understanding how extractive industries (e.g. mining, oil) affect rural communities' environment and health in the long-run. His research interests in health equity align with the Center’s theme of addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Through a development-informed lens, Edgar also explores how rural communities have mobilized across history as a response to extractive industries' impact, especially in Latin America and the Caribbean.
