Bridging healthcare access gaps and advancing emergency medicine

Ginette Busschots’s global health focus is on bridging gaps in healthcare access for communities in Puerto Rico, including Vieques and Culebra. She aims to address longstanding disparities—significantly worsened since Hurricane Maria—through focused research and documentation to help bring necessary resources and improve health outcomes. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Busschots’s research and clinical expertise as an emergency physician contribute to improving acute care delivery, with fluency in Spanish for effective patient communication. She also brings experience working with telehealth technologies since the pandemic, enhancing healthcare access and coordination.
