Impacts of extreme climate events on population dynamics and health.
Khandaker Ahmed's global work focuses on the interplay between population dynamics and health disparities in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. His interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of strengthening systems and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Ahmed's research examines how extreme climate events affect population dynamics—such as fertility, mortality, and migration. He emphasizes the importance of strengthening resilient health systems and integrating population and health considerations into disaster risk reduction, using evidence from survey-based studies in resource-limited settings.
