Mary Byrnes’s global work focuses on aging and the life course, urban planning, and expertise in health inequalities using an intersectional framework in Ethiopia and Ghana. Mary's interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Byrnes’s research explores social structure, culture, and community to understand and improve how healthcare is delivered and received, particularly in the context of healthcare research. Her work has a growing focus on health experiences in refugee camps and resettlement.
