Technologies to improve care for patients with eye diseases

Maria Woodward’s global work focuses on applying low-cost technologies and novel care models to address eye problems to prevent eye damage and permanent vision loss. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center theme of creating technical solutions. She develops and applies treatments to improve patient outcomes, especially among vulnerable populations. Woodward aims to dramatically extend affordable, high-quality eye care to the underserved and under-represented communities both nationally and globally. She collaborates with national and international leaders in cornea, health sciences, telemedicine, and engineering, including close relationships with Aravind Eye Hospitals in India.
