Phonetics, speech processing, and phonological theory

Andries Coetzee’s global work focuses on linguistics, more specifically on the complex linguistic landscape of post-apartheid South Africa. His interests in global health equity align with the Center theme of strengthening systems for health. Coetzee served as director of the U-M African Studies Center and as a member of the original faculty visioning group for the Center. He is committed to building and supporting relationships with African institutions of higher education and strengthening research and teaching capacities at both U-M and African partner institutions.
