Anne Petersen, PhD, MS

Community empowerment and positive human development

Anne Petersen’s global work focuses on capacity building for research globally. In the past two decades, she has focused most intensively on Africa. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health, empowering women and communities, and providing technical solutions. Petersen is the founder and president of Global Philanthropy Alliance, a foundation providing grants to young entrepreneurs in Africa. She has authored 18 books and more than 350 articles, and is now emphasizing global science policy and philanthropy.
