Michelle Bellino, PhD

she/her/hers
Armed conflict and displacement, refugee youth and wellbeing, youth participatory action research

Michelle Bellino’s global work centers on young people's civic learning in educational and community spaces, set within contexts impacted by armed conflict and displacement. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of empowering women, youth, and communities, as well as addressing social and environmental determinants of health and wellbeing. Bellino’s work draws on ethnographic methods and youth participatory action research to ask how young people construct understandings of justice and injustice, while shaping an evolving sense of themselves as local and global civic actors. She also explores young people's educational pursuits and future aspirations, as they intersect with im/migration.
