William (Bill) Axinn, PhD, MA

Interrelationships of social change, family social organization, and health

William Axinn’s global health interests focus on the influences of community, family, and beliefs on marriage, reproductive health, and mental health. His interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of empowering women and communities, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and designing technical solutions. Axinn specializes in the design of surveys, mixed-method studies, and longitudinal studies to advance knowledge of the interrelationships among social change, social organization of families, intergenerational relationships, marriage, cohabitation, fertility, contraceptive use, and mental health. He has methodological expertise in mixed-method data collection, survey research, registry systems, and special data needs in low-income countries.
