Olufunmilayo (Funmi) Banjo, PhD, MSc

Women’s health, children’s health, adolescent sexual and reproductive health

Funmi Banjo’s global work focuses on women’s sexual and reproductive health, primarily in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of empowering women and communities, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and technical solutions for health equity. The main focus of her work is around women and their reproductive health and behavior, as well as the sexual and reproductive health and behavior of physically challenged secondary school adolescents. Banjo has collaborated with University of Michigan faculty on a Multinational Campus Climate Survey to understand university students’ knowledge, attitudes, and experiences associated with gender-based violence.
