Multimodal biomedical AI for equitable diagnosis and precision care

Joyce Yan-Ran Wang’s global health focus centers on advancing equitable access to high-quality diagnosis and precision care through multimodal biomedical AI, especially in cardiology and oncology. She is particularly interested in developing scalable, generalizable tools that support clinical decision-making across diverse patient populations and resource-constrained healthcare settings. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Wang’s research centers on building AI methods for medical imaging and healthcare data to improve disease diagnosis, risk stratification, and personalized treatment, spanning cardiovascular disease, cancer, and multimodal biomedical data analysis. She develops precision imaging and biomedical AI systems designed to be robust, clinically useful, and capable of reducing disparities in healthcare delivery worldwide.
