The impact of diet and toxicants on development of obesity and cardiometabolic risk

Karen Peterson’s global work focuses on the influence of biosocial and environmental factors on growth, maturation and the development of cardiometabolic risk across sensitive developmental periods, primarily in Latin American cohorts. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center theme of addressing social and environmental determinants. Peterson designs and evaluates population-based interventions focusing on diet, physical activity, and other behaviors related to obesity and chronic disease in diverse populations.
