Zoonotic and arthropod-vectored pathogens, human-animal interactions, climate change, spillover prevention
Kelly Speer's global work focuses on the microscopic interactions in the environment between hosts, parasites, and microorganisms to understand how communities respond to climate change. Her research interests in health equity align with the Center's themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health and strengthening systems for health. Through her work, she explores zoonotic and arthropod pathogen survival, transmission between wildlife and humans or domesticated animals, and spillover prevention.
