she/her/hers
Behavioral interventions and public health programs related to sexuality, gender, race, ethnicity, and mental health

Laura Jadwin-Cakmak’s global work focuses on reducing health disparities among LGBTQIA+ communities and people living with or affected by HIV in Kenya, Mozambique, and Zambia. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of empowering women and communities and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Jadwin-Cakmak conducts participatory research with LGBTQIA+ communities and those living with or affected by HIV to reduce health inequities by addressing stigma and needs related to mental health. She has partnered with Associação Moçambicana para Desenvolvimento da Família in Maputo, Mozambique, to develop a community health worker-delivered program to support parents and caregivers of adolescents perinatally infected with HIV and with Western Kenya LGBTI Network to develop a peer-led group to support the mental health of LGBTQIA+ adults in Western Kenya.
