Mark Nanyingi’s global health focus centers on advancing global health equity by strengthening epidemic preparedness and response systems through integrated One Health surveillance, epidemic intelligence, and data-driven decision-support tools. He is dedicated to developing scalable approaches to improve early detection, coordinated response, and equitable health protection in resource-constrained settings, especially in low- and middle-income countries. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Nanyingi’s research examines the epidemiology and spatio-temporal dynamics of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, focusing on integrating human, animal, and environmental data within One Health surveillance systems. Using quantitative epidemiology, digital analytics, and implementation science approaches, he develops and evaluates scalable epidemic intelligence and decision-support frameworks to strengthen early warning systems and advance equitable health security.
