Michael Boivin’s global health focus centers on understanding neurodevelopmental and neuropsychological outcomes of infectious disease exposure in sub-Saharan children, and the benefits of behavioral and medical interventions to mitigate risk. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of addressing social and environmental determinants of health and developing technical solutions. Boivin’s research investigates neurodevelopmental outcomes and risk mitigation for children in sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America affected by HIV, severe malaria, konzo disease, Zika, and dengue. He also examines mental health factors related to caregiver quality of life and their impact on risk and resilience in children facing these exposures.
