Shobita Parthasarathy, PhD, MA

Equity in patents and innovation policy, access to medicines, inclusive innovation in international development

Shobita Parthasarathy’s global work focuses on comparative and international politics and policy related to emerging science and technology, with an emphasis on how to better achieve public interest and social justice goals. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of strengthening systems for health, empowering women and communities, and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Parthasarathy's scholarly and policy work has examined structural inequities in patent and innovation systems to better ensure access to essential technologies. Her current work focuses on benefits and limitations of the rise of inclusive innovation in international development with a focus on India.
