Climate change, environmental justice, and health equity

Mislael Valentin-Cortes's global work focuses on examining the health impacts of climate change, environmental hazards, and socio-structural inequities, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean. His interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of social and environmental determinants of health.Valentin-Cortes's research explores the intersection of environmental exposures, such as air pollution and extreme heat, with social determinants of health to understand disparities in physical, mental, and reproductive health outcomes, using mixed-methods and community-engaged approaches.
