Sarah Hortsch, PhD, MSW, RN

Evolutionary medicine and chronic disease
Sarah Hortsch’s global work focuses on evolutionary medical approaches to address modern nutrition intake and chronic health. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center themes of empowering women and communities and addressing social and environmental determinants of health. Hortsch’s research addresses beverage intake and its association with chronic disease as well as traditional food consumption related to liver fluke and liver cancer. She is passionate for improving mental health concerns among marginalized communities.
