Yousif Hassan, PhD

AI and data governance, equity and social justice in technology and innovation policy for health and development

Yousif Hassan’s global work focuses on the social, political, and economic implications of developing AI technology across sectors, including health, with emphasis on social justice and equity. His interests in global health equity align with the Center’s themes of strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and developing technical solutions. Hassan’s current research critically examines how international development programs and local community initiatives interact to shape the AI development agenda. His work focuses on the development of inclusive and contextually grounded technological innovations. Hassan’s scholarly and policy work contributes to emerging debates on global data governance and the role of AI in advancing global health equity.
