Lindsey Miltenberger, Chief Advocacy Officer, Society for Women’s Health Research, will join us for a discussion of advocacy efforts to highlight the need to prioritize and fund women’s health research in congress. We’ve asked her to help us better understand the current political landscape and, most importantly, what proactive steps we can take to mitigate the impact of federal funding cuts—both on our institutions and the communities we serve. She’s trained many people on advocacy, having a long career in public health and research policy, and can give updates from Washington on what they are seeing and what they might need from researchers and communities to take to policymakers moving forward.

About the Empowering Women and Communities Challenge Group
This challenge group aims to create a space where researchers, public health practitioners, community partners, and others can learn from one another, seek support, and push forward a meaningful agenda focused on understanding, measuring, intervening upon, and assessing the impact of empowerment on health in low-resource global communities. The Empowering Women and Communities Challenge Group is led by Cheryl Moyer, PhD, MPH, and Gary Harper, PhD, MPH.
