The Center for Global Health Equity at the University of Michigan is proud to announce the finalists for its inaugural Student Organization Global Health Equity Challenge. This program has brought together some of the brightest student minds across campus to develop initiatives that strive for health equity in low- and middle-income countries. After submitting innovative proposals that went through an extremely competitive selection process, we are thrilled to announce the four finalists of this groundbreaking challenge. The Global Surgery Student Alliance, The Quito Project, M-HEAL Team DRIP, and M-HEALProject MIA will advance to the pitch competition and project implementation phases.
Launched earlier this year, the Student Organization Global Health Equity Challenge serves as a platform for student groups to collaborate on inventive solutions to global health issues, with an emphasis on equitable partnerships. The competition has inspired students to create projects that promise sustainable and community-centered impact. Each finalist team has been matched with CGHE faculty and staff who will offer expert guidance as the students refine their project pitches. The preparation will culminate in a dynamic competition event set for March 29, 2024, where they will present their ideas to a panel of interdisciplinary experts.
With the support of CGHE and a network of global collaborators, this initiative spotlights the university's commitment to global health and innovation, fostering a generation of leaders equipped to tackle complex health challenges with creativity and cultural sensitivity. Stay tuned for the results of this inspiring challenge and the positive global impact these ambitious teams are poised to make.
