Cheryl Moyer’s extensive body of research exploring neonatal and maternal mortality in Ghana garnered recent attention in a top medical journal.
An associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Learning Health Sciences, Moyer was the subject of a profile in the July 24 edition of The Lancet.
The 900-word piece details Moyer’s introduction to global health, her mixed-methods approach to research, and how she is embracing equity in collaborations with Ghanaian colleagues.
“It doesn't make sense to split grant writing 50-50, or for me to fly to rural Ghana to undertake all surveys,” says Moyer. “So the sharing may not look even, but it's smart, thoughtful, and agreed together as a team.”
A co-lead in the U-M Center for Global Health Equity’s Empowering Women and Communities Challenge Group, Moyer was the recipient this this year’s Mid-Career Leadership Award at the annual conference for the Consortium of Universities for Global Health.
