The Center for Global Health Equity at the University of Michigan (U-M) is excited to announce the opening of applications for three transformative summer programs designed to equip graduate students with the skills and experiences necessary to become leaders in global health equity. These programs offer a unique integration of scholarship, international collaboration, and practical advocacy to advance global health and human rights initiatives.
Summer Research Internship & Training Program
This paid summer internship offers highly motivated U-M graduate students from any discipline the chance to engage with real-world global health challenges alongside leading faculty experts. Participants will gain practical experience in designing solutions that contribute to the advancement of global health equity, becoming part of a professional learning community. The program is based at the U-M Ann Arbor campus, with potential for virtual or hybrid arrangements. For more information, visit the program’s webpage.

- Important Dates: A mandatory program orientation will be held May 8-9 in Ann Arbor, 2025. In-person attendance is required. Internship dates are May 19 - July 25, 2025
Summer Research Development Grants
This program provides funding for international travel expenses to support student-driven research projects in low- and middle-income countries. Grantees will co-design research proposals with local collaborators, aligning their projects with the center’s priorities of equitable global partnerships. Fellowship for Research to Advance Global Health & Human Rights
Newly launched, this six-month fellowship provides a paid research and advocacy experience for U-M graduate and professional students. In partnership with the Donia Human Rights Center and Physicians for Human Rights, fellows will co-design research projects with the mentorship of Michele Heisler, MD, MPA.
