Effective writing in public health and strengthening research capacity

Carmella August’s global work focuses on effective writing and publishing in public health and working to enhance research capacity, especially within low- and middle-income countries. Her interests in global health equity align with the Center's themes of empowering women and communities, strengthening systems for health, addressing social and environmental determinants of health, and creating technical solutions. August's practice and research strengthens capacity globally among public health researchers through a ‘train the trainer’ model. She serves as editor-in-chief for PREPSS (Pre-Publication Support Service), which supports researchers in publishing their research in peer-reviewed journals and coaches faculty and other leaders on how to train researchers to publish in academic journals and craft effective manuscript peer reviews.
